Melbourne Mobility Assistance Grants
The University of Melbourne offers the following mobility grants to provide financial support to students undertaking overseas study:
Melbourne Global Financial Assistance Grant
Established by the University of Melbourne, this grant is available to students who are undertaking overseas study of 12 weeks or more in duration. The University usually awards up to 100 grants per year.
Aitchison Travelling Scholarship
Established in 1994 with a bequest from David Aitchison, this scholarship is available to students undertaking overseas study for at least one semester at an approved institution. The University usually awards one scholarship per year.
John and Betty McCreery Travelling/Study Scholarship
Established with a donation from Mrs V. M. (Betty) McCreery, this scholarship is available to students who are enrolled in the Faculty of Science and the Melbourne Medical School and undertaking overseas study for at least one semester. The University usually awards up to 30 scholarships per year.
The Aitchison Travelling Scholarship and John and Betty McCreery Travelling/Study Scholarship provide a one-off payment of approximately $5,000.
The Melbourne Global Financial Assistance Grant provide a one-off payment ranging from $1,000 to $2,500.
To be considered for the Melbourne Mobility Grants, you must:
be enrolled at the University of Melbourne in either an undergraduate degree or a graduate coursework degree;
have received approval to study overseas as part of a University of Melbourne Exchange or Study Abroad program or a University of Melbourne subject with an overseas component; and
not have previously received a Melbourne Mobility Assistance Grant for overseas study that was part of your current course
Before the start of your overseas study, you must apply for the Melbourne Mobility Grants by submitting:

Step 2. An online Student Financial Assessment must be completed within 6 months of receiving an outcome for either of the applications, and by the following deadlines:
no later than 28th February, to be considered in the April round
no later than 31 July, to be considered in the August round
no later than 30 November, to be considered in the December round
Candidates for the Melbourne Mobility Grants are selected on the basis of the level of financial need and academic merit using the University’s Weighted Average Mark (WAM).
The Aitchison Travelling Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students who have completed at least 1 year of study and undertaking at least one semester (12 weeks) of overseas study.
The John and Betty McCreery Travelling/Study Scholarship is awarded to students who are Australian citizens, enrolled in the Faculty of Science or Melbourne Medical School and undertaking at least one semester (12 weeks) of overseas study.
Applicants are notified of the outcome of their application in April, August and December of each year.
The Melbourne Mobility Grants are only paid after you have enrolled in the University of Melbourne subject for which the grant was awarded.
