Carol Willesee PhD Scholarship

The Carol Willesee PhD Scholarship was established by Amy Rebecca Willesee, Lucy Charlotte Willesee and Joanna Claire Willesee who organised an appeal in memory of their mother, Carol Dorothy Mackay Willesee (nee Bett), who died from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease on 5 December 2006.

The scholarship is awarded to students undertaking a graduate research degree in prion disease.

See University's Trust Record for detailed information.

This scholarship is one of several trust-funded scholarships available through the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences for students who have applied for, or are enrolled in a graduate research degree of the faculty.

The duration of the scholarship is up to 1 year. The scholarship provides a fortnightly allowance of approximately $5,151 per year (pro rata).

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • be applying for or enrolled in a graduate research degree of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
  • be undertaking a research into prion disease.
  • be a recipient of a NHMRC Scholarship, RTP scholarship, or other scholarship that provides equivalent funding sufficient to complete the degree.
  • satisfy the faculty's eligibility standards for course and scholarship.

Future graduate research students of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences must complete an online application for course.

Students who are currently enrolled in the research degree for which they seek the scholarship must complete an online application for Graduate Research Scholarships. You are not required to list the trust scholarship(s) for which you are applying.

Recipients of trust funded scholarships are required to reapply annually (by 31 October) or their scholarship funding will cease.

Eligible candidates are selected by the Faculty Research Training Committee on the basis of academic merit and the terms of the trust.

Successful candidates will be advised of the outcome by Friday, 30 September 2016.
