Richard Lovell Travelling Scholarship

The Richard Lovell Travelling Scholarship was established with an appeal that was launched jointly by the Anti-Cancer Council and the University, to establish a fund in memory of the late Emeritus Professor Richard Lovell OA, MD, MSc, FRCP, FRACP, FACP (Hon.).

The scholarship is awarded to students undertaking a graduate research degree in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences and researching in a field relevant to cancer epidemiology.

This scholarship is one of several trust-funded scholarships available through the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences for students who have applied for, or are enrolled in a graduate research degree of the faculty.


Up to $7,000. Funds may be shared among multiple applicants.


To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • be enrolled in a graduate research degree of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, and undertaking a research in the field relevant to cancer epidemiology.
  • satisfy the faculty's eligibility standards for course and scholarship.


You must apply for this scholarship by submitting an application form. (Link for the application form will be provided when the scholarship is open for applications)


Eligible candidates are selected by the Faculty Research Training Committee on the basis of academic merit and the terms of the trust.


Successful candidates will be advised of the outcome of their application according to the Faculty's published timelines.

Travel must be undertaken in the period for which the scholarship is bestowed.

Variations to the purpose or period of travel require the approval of the Faculty prior to altering travel arrangements (1 month minimum notice).
