Victoria Latin America Doctoral Scholarship
The Victoria Latin America Doctoral Scholarship (VLADS) was established by the Victorian Government in partnership with the State’s universities, including the University of Melbourne. The scholarships will help to build strong research links between Victorian and countries across the Latin America region.
The Victorian Government will offer four scholarships for 2016.
The maximum duration of the Victoria Latin America Doctoral Scholarship is 3.5 years. The following benefits apply:
The State Government and the University of Melbourne provide a living allowance of $30,000 per year (pro rata) paid fortnightly for 3 years.
In addition, the University of Melbourne provides:
full tuition fee remission
a 6-month extension to the living allowance
limited paid sick leave
Overseas Student Health Cover (single membership)
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
be a citizen of a a Latin American country, including all of South America, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, and
have applied for admission to a Doctor of Philosophy degree course at the University of Melbourne, and
meet the eligibility criteria for the Melbourne Research Scholarship
If you have submitted an application for admission to Graduate Research Degree Candidature and Scholarship, you will be automatically considered for the Victorian International Research Scholarship.
Only complete applications received by the relevant closing date will be considered.
Eligible candidates are selected for nomination by the University of Melbourne to the State Government of Victoria on the basis of academic merit. Nominees will be contacted in November for further information.
Successful candidates will be advised of the outcome by January.
